CHAPTER 1. LEAVE POLICY
Subsection 1. Leave Information
The length of the leave is determined by the total service time an individual has at the time of requesting the leave. Refer to the table below for further information:

- Personnel with less than 3 months of active duty that wish to request leave for more than 20 days must seek respective OSD+ approval.
- Personnel returning from a leave lasting 20+ days must wait 14 days before requesting another leave once returned to active duty. If you need to request another leave, you must seek approval from your respective OSD member.
- Extended leaves (more than 30 days) must receive prior approval from the respective OSD member(s). Those officeless must receive approval from their respective branch chief.
- Once an extended leave is approved, the personnel must tag the DMP and the individual who approved it.
- Personnel that have been approved for a leave that lasts 3 or more days will be exempt of that week's SoW requirement.
Subsection 2. Leave Guidelines
- All personnel may visit HQ while on leave for a short period. They may not engage in HQ duties or activities.
- If you've been frequently noticed in the HQ while on leave your director or immediate chain of command will be notified.
- Personnel are required to insert "*OL*" at the beginning of their motto.
- Personnel who are in HQ while on leave must be in uniform. Officers must dress in professional civilian attire.
- Commissioned Officers are required to submit a Leave Request if their unavailability spans for four days or more, and three days or more for officers holding Command positions.
- Members of the OSD and NSC are exempt
- Non-command members cannot be dismissed from their office if they are on leave.
- Command members can be removed from their position at the discretion of the office director/OSD.
- Leaves are to be requested on the Leaves and Reserve Requests board. Personnel must follow the outlined format, and guidelines when requesting a leave.
Subsection 3. Authority to Award Leave Status
The following personnel can award leaves:
CHAPTER 2. RESERVE STRUCTURE
Subsection 1. Purpose
The main objective of the reserve force is to maintain mission readiness -- reserve personnel must always be fully engaged and ready to augment the active duty component when needed. To accomplish this, USDF and the Office of Manpower and Personnel (OMP) maintain two sections of reserve personnel -- active reserve duty, and inactive reserve duty. Each of these are outlined in the following sections.
Subsection 2. Definitions
A period begins on the 20th of the month and extends to the 20th of the next month. Example: 20th January - 20th February.
Subsection 3. Active Reserve Duty (R1)
R1 is composed of those who still wish to work in an office, but are unable to meet the time requirements of Active Duty. R1 personnel are not eligible for appointment to any command position, join branch council, join any sub-office (CET, JDT, Titans & ICSD), nor be promoted past O4.
Note: Personnel on R2 cannot switch back to R1 directly. They are required to go on Active Duty and join an office in order to be eligible for R1.
Subsection 4. Inactive Reserve Duty (R2)
The R2 component of reserve is composed of those who would like to remain members of USDF but cannot meet the obligations and time commitments of a higher duty status type, and is meant to be merely temporary.
- Individuals on R2 are not eligible for any office, council, official membership or promotion.
- Individuals on R2 are also not authorized to command HQ and/or man any HQ station, promote other members or host any training.
- HQ authorization is limited to the extent of visitation.
- Those who reinstate must have served at least 90 days (3 months) before requesting to go on R2, regardless of pay grade.
- Commissioned Officers who wish to request Inactive Reserve Duty (R2) must serve 90 days (3 months) as a Commissioned Officer.
- Personnel who have served 240 days in R2 have to stay in Active Duty for 2 months before requesting for R2 again.
CHAPTER 3. DUTY TYPES

Subsection 2. Authority to Modify Duty Type
The following personnel can approve reserve duty status (R1, and R2):

Subsection 1. The USDF Reach Out Program
The Office of the Secretary of Defense spearheads the 'Reach Out Program', created to provide a point of contact for personnel of the USDF. The aim of the program is to provide a space for you to obtain advice and guidance on your career and the options available to you. While it is aimed at personnel who feel demoralized or otherwise unsatisfied with their time in the USDF, the program is open to all interested applicants as a USDF-specific counseling service for support and assistance in matters related to your career in our organization.
NOTE: The Reach Out Program is not a professional counseling service for personal or otherwise real-life problems or issues.

Subsection 2. How to Request Leaves or Reserve Duty
All requests are to be submitted on the Leaves and Reserve Requests board. The request must be placed in a new thread following the given template on the board. Personnel MUST inform their office command before applying for any duty type change.
Personnel must post their own requests unless it is an emergency in which they are unable to access the forums. In this case, another individual may post the request on their behalf; however, they must include a screenshot of the member requesting the duty type change to confirm the request. Any request posted by someone else that does not include the screenshot, or that is posted on behalf of someone who has access to the forums, will be denied.
Subsection 3. LinksPersonnel must post their own requests unless it is an emergency in which they are unable to access the forums. In this case, another individual may post the request on their behalf; however, they must include a screenshot of the member requesting the duty type change to confirm the request. Any request posted by someone else that does not include the screenshot, or that is posted on behalf of someone who has access to the forums, will be denied.
