CHAPTER 1. STANDARD OF WORK
Subsection 1. General Information
USDF utilizes the Standard of Work (SoW) to evaluate the performance of JNCOs, SNCOs, and CWOs on a weekly and monthly basis. All personnel are expected to do their best to reach this standard. Some offices use successful completion of SoW to determine whether or not someone should be promoted each week.
- Personnel must be in an office to be eligible to claim SoW.
- Personnel are exempt from SoW during their first week in an office to allow for training and orientation.
- Personnel are eligible to claim duties only after being accepted into an office.
- Weekly SoW requirement is 25 points (3-4 hours of work) for active duty and 12 points for R1.
- SoW requirements must be met by the Sunday of every week, at 11:59pm EDT.
- Personnel are entitled to 1 SoW exemption every rolling month. For example, if a member of your office requests an exemption on 30 MAR 24, they must wait until 30 APR 24 to request another. This is the only way an exemption may be applied.
- Upon completing a qualifying duty personnel must submit their points via the PTS Work Tracker Submission page.
- HQ duties must be confirmed by one officer O1+ or two CWOs (BHNCOs and OHNCOs count as 1 CWO confirmation).
- Officer Selectees with FEAT {Z} count as full confirmations, while OCS candidates count as 1 CWO confirmation.
- Skipping the verification step will result in the submission being voided and potentially disciplined for falsification.
- Personnel eligible by rank to confirm shifts must first obtain FEAT {Z}.
- All confirmations, regardless of the method, should be made in .5 increments. HQ duties may not be confirmed in more than 1 hour increments for a singular duty session; submissions that do not follow this rule will be voided.
- Personnel are recommended to save screenshots as evidence of filling a qualifying HQ duty.
- Your screenshots must clearly show the time at which you took up the position, the time at mid-point of your shift, and the time at which you stood down, with timestamps included (chat history and system clock).
- Screenshots may be posted in the #duty-confirmation channel on Discord. Only Commissioned Officers may confirm via screenshots
- SoW for trainings is awarded by the number of sessions hosted, not the number of attendees
- For example, hosting FEAT {R} with 3 attendees warrants only one FEAT {R} submission on the PTS, not three.
- Eligible personnel should use their own discretion when confirming shifts and may decide against confirming someone who has been consistently inactive during their shift.
- Commissioned Officers may void shifts for personnel being consistently inactive at their discretion. Disciplinary action may also be taken in severe cases.
It is of paramount importance that forms are filled accurately and carefully, so nobody loses their points or faces disciplinary action due to simple error. Any questions regarding this should be directed to office command.
Subsection 2. Submission Tracking
The PTS work tracker page is linked here for convenience: Global Work Tracker
- The work tracker is automatically updated and is monitored by each respective office's Assistant Directors.
- Points will update immediately but will be removed if found questionable or unconfirmable.
- If you believe your points are incorrect, kindly follow the chain of command within your office to reach a solution.
- Personnel are encouraged to keep track of their SoW points on a piece of paper, or in a word processor (Ms Word, Ms Excel, notepad...) so that when point inconsistency is discussed, they have a record of their work.
- Without an external record of your SoW points, we may be unable to award you any missing points.
- You cannot earn points for un-submitted work you've done in a previous SoW week
FORGING OR FALSIFYING POINTS IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED AND IS A PUNISHABLE OFFENSE UNDER THE UCMJ.
All E4+ personnel are given a unique PTS account that they must use when submitting their SoW points. This will be given to any personnel upon joining an office. This unique account given to you must be treated with the utmost care and protection. Compromisation or sharing of this account is punishable by the UCMJ.
Subsection 3. Office and Council Guidelines
- Directors may set SoW with NSC approval according to the duties and requirements of their office.
- SoW standards must be easily available to all office members.
- Directors may grant bonus SoW points for office-related duties without prior approval.
- Directors are responsible for making sure these duty records are kept and updated on a weekly basis.
- Members on approved leave are exempt from completing office duties.
- Directors, at their discretion, may remove members who repeatedly fail to meet their office duties, even after counseling and assistance.
- This authority may not be delegated to anyone else in the office
SoW points can also be claimed for completing duties within respective Branch Councils, such as planning and hosting a USDF-wide event, administrative and Google Drive work and Career Counseling & Personnel Development (both in client and sending letters). There is no point requirement for branch council work to remain in the council or point-linked penalty; however, each branch command reserves the right to set guidelines as they see fit, with NSC approval. Points must be confirmed by either of the following members:
- One member of Branch Command (BHNCO, SWOA or SEAC)
- Respective Division Director, or Assistant Director
- Branch Chief, or Vice Branch Chief
Failure to meet SoW requirements for any week will result in actions determined by their Office AD+. All the strikes mentioned below remain on official record for 30 active days from the date of issuance, meaning if the member goes on leave, the 30 day countdown will pause and resume when the member returns.
1st Offense | Formal warning |
2nd Offense | One-on-One plan of action/Issued demerit |
3rd Offense | Removal from the Office |
These offenses do not have to be in consecutive order. The Director of an office may remove a member at any given time. There is an information graphic that shows you a plethora of ways to reach SoW found here.
Further information on utilizing the Standard of Work System can be found here.
Subsection 4. Standard of Work Pay
