Senior Officers
O-6 Officers: Officers promoted to O-6 who have not yet completed FGOAB will be given a maximum of 60 days of active duty service (excluding leave) from the date of their position appointment to complete the course.
O-4 Officers: Officers promoted to O-4 who have not yet completed SOAB and SODC will be given a maximum of 60 days of active duty service (excluding leave) from the date of their position appointment to complete SOAB.
O-4 Senior Command Officers who are appointed to a JSD position must have completed SODC prior to appointment. If not, they are required to apply and enroll in the course on the same day as their appointment.

- O-6 Officers who hold an ML2+ position who fail to complete FGOAB within the required timeframe may be subject to disciplinary action or reassignment, as deemed appropriate by their Chain of Command.
O-4 Officers: Officers promoted to O-4 who have not yet completed SOAB and SODC will be given a maximum of 60 days of active duty service (excluding leave) from the date of their position appointment to complete SOAB.
- O-4 Officers who hold an ML2+ position who fail to complete SOAB within the required timeframe may be subject to disciplinary action or reassignment, as deemed appropriate by their Chain of Command.
O-4 Senior Command Officers who are appointed to a JSD position must have completed SODC prior to appointment. If not, they are required to apply and enroll in the course on the same day as their appointment.
- Each tier of SODC must be completed within 7 days of receipt, unless an extension is approved by the officer’s Branch Chief.
- The full SODC program must be completed within 4 weeks of appointment. Failure to meet this requirement will result in removal from the position. Extensions remain solely up to their respective NSC representative.
